Paul O’Gorman
Paul has been in the Insurance Industry for over 30 years, holding senior positions that have given him a real insight into all aspects of the industry from generating business; operational efficiencies; managing teams of Insurance and IT professionals; creating added value and more.
Always hands-on, not only did Paul create the Quoteline Direct brand, he even designed the logo and was successful in registering the UK trade mark with the IPO despite initial rebuffs.
Focusing on the use of IT as an enabler of business and using technology to do business more efficiently and cost effectively with an emphasis on volume in a very competitive market place.
More recently Paul was CIO and shareholder at the Bollington Wilson Group and co-founded Joined Up Intelligence after spending 12 months ensuring the smooth hand over of the business to A J Gallagher following their acquisition in 2021.

- Management of business teams including Apps & Development, IT Infrastructure, MI, Security. Working closely with his teams to maintain innovation and long term sustainability.
- Design and development of online systems and business applications including industry-unique applications that provide unrivalled insights.
- Manage business relationships at the highest level with business critical suppliers including CDL, Acturis, OpenGi, TGSL and others
- Digital transformation including enhancing functionality of systems for operational efficiencies by bolting in-house applications onto core systems.
- Dynamic pricing. Instrumental in the implementation of Real Time Pricing tools and enhancing its use to include acceptance and fraud prevention.
- Insurtech. Involved in a number of initiatives from their inception and always open to the use of technology to enhance business opportunities.
- Data enrichment. Paul worked closely with his own development team and many companies in the data enrichment arena including LexisNexis.
- Operational expertise by using his extensive knowledge of the insurance industry at all levels to understand how to make use of technologies such as RPA and in-house developed applications to improve efficiencies.
- Security including Cyber Essentials/Plus and ISO27001.
- Marketing and Business generation. Paul has always had a view that Marketing and IT work hand-in-hand and headed up marketing in addition to IT prior to the BWG merger. As a result he has significant experience in the generation of new business and was at the forefront of a number of new developments including personally setting up relationships with the main Price Comparison Websites from their inception.
- Telephony inc. Dialler and automated technologies.
- Procurement and Budgeting with responsibility for multi-million pound budgets and contracts across the gamut of IT, working closely with Finance business leaders.
Mergers and acquisitions
Paul also has extensive experience of Mergers & Acquisitions as buyer and seller, including PE investment. He was involved in the sale of Wilsons Insurance Brokers to Inflexion Private Equity Partners, creating the Bollington Wilson Group. Following the merger with Bollington Insurance Brokers he oversaw the IT due diligence for a number of business acquisitions enhancing the Group and leading to its ultimate acquisition by A J Gallagher.
